Vietnam Ranks 101st in the 2023 ESG Index (ESGI)

According to the 2023 assessment and ranking results of the ESG Index (ESGI), Vietnam ranks 101st out of 183 countries and territories. This ranking assesses the main aspects related to the environment, human rights and health and safety. Below are some points to note:‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

  1. Environment: The assessment of the environmental situation covers factors such as climate change, natural resource management and the capacity to adapt to climate change.
  2. Human Rights: This aspect assesses the protection of human rights, including civil rights, labour rights and the right to equality.
  3. Health and Safety: The health and safety assessment considers aspects such as drinking water quality, disease management and occupational safety.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌

However, it should be noted that this ranking is for reference only and does not comprehensively reflect all ESG aspects of a country. Other sources such as MSCI, S&P and Moody’s also provide different ESG ratings. In addition, ESG assessment may depend on each organisation's methodology and criteria. For example, the assessment of government transparency and integrity (Governance) also needs further consideration.

Given the positive signals for ESG in Vietnam, we are fully confident that in 2014 and the following years, Vietnam will be one of the countries rising in the World ESG rankings, through the joint efforts of the Government – Ministries/Agencies – Businesses on the ESG transition journey.
