On 17 June 2025, at the Melia Hanoi hotel, the event “Implementing ESG in Real Estate: Opportunities and Sustainable Financial Solutions”, co-organised by the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) and GRESB, attracted wide interest from stakeholders in real estate, finance, policy and sustainable development.
The event brought together more than 200 delegates, including leading real estate developers, representatives of state regulators, consultants, financial institutions and businesses pioneering the integration of ESG into their development strategies.

The discussion between the two sides reaffirmed the strategic partnership between VietESG and GRESB and opened up opportunities for broad cooperation to standardise and internationalise the ESG assessment system in the real estate and construction sector in Vietnam.
ESG – An indispensable pillar of sustainable real estate development strategy
In a highlight presentation at the event, Mr. Trey Archer emphasised that ESG is not merely a compliance factor but is increasingly becoming the “common language” of global investment flows. Investors and developers that do not integrate ESG will gradually lose their advantage in accessing international finance and lose the trust of buyers and partners.
In its role in ESG Assessment and Rating and ESG Training, VietESG believes that ESG ratings are the “passport” for businesses in Vietnam’s construction and real estate sector to demonstrate transparency, enhance competitiveness and access the fast-growing green capital market.
The role of the State and strategic vision
The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Construction, the Central Institute for Economic Management (CIEM), and financial institutions such as ADB, SeABank… clearly demonstrating the consensus and determination of stakeholders to embed ESG into the policy system, urban planning and green building development.
This is a clear signal that ESG is no longer an option but a mandatory requirement in the country’s sustainable development process.
