Supporting Businesses and the Government in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The Government has issued a document amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP dated 07/01/2022 on greenhouse gas emission mitigation and ozone layer protection, setting out amendments and additions to detail points in the Decree. Below are the notable contents:‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌
1. Additional groups of companies required to report greenhouse gas emissions: The Decree sets out more clearly which businesses must report on greenhouse gas emissions. This increases transparency and enables effective management.
2. Periodic reporting every 2 years: Businesses will have to report greenhouse gas emissions periodically, specifically once every 2 years. This allows emissions to be monitored and assessed on a continuous basis.
3. Agencies managing report data: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and provincial Departments of Natural Resources and Environment will be responsible for managing greenhouse gas emission report data. This ensures accuracy and consistency in information collection.‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌
4. Through the end of 2024: Facilities providing information and activity data for facility-level GHG inventories will develop and implement greenhouse gas emission mitigation measures appropriate to their conditions.
