Mr. Phạm Quốc Hưng – the man behind VietESG’s digital infrastructure – does not begin with growth figures. Reporter: Mr. Hưng, at a time when businesses are straining under logistics bottlenecks and expensive energy, why do you choose to talk about ESG – a concept many still consider a “luxury”?
CEO Phạm Quốc Hưng: I empathise with the concerns of fellow CEOs. We are living in an era when “sustainability” is no longer an option but a survival capability. When war breaks out somewhere in the world, electricity prices rise, supply chains break… people begin to realise that glossy ESG medals do not help a business pass its partners’ rigorous scrutiny.
I did not build VietESG to sell yet another certificate. I built a “Digital infrastructure of trust”. When everything around us is uncertain, “Truth” through raw data is the only anchor that keeps Vietnamese businesses from being left behind.
Reporter: You talk a lot about “raw data” rather than “ratings”. What makes you believe this transparency will restore international trust?
CEO Phạm Quốc Hưng: Look through the eyes of a buyer in the EU or the US. They do not need a “rose-tinted” scorecard. They need to know how every tonne of emissions, every drop of water and every benefit for workers in Vietnam is actually being handled.
