In May 2024, the In-depth ESG Training event – organised by VIETESG Company in cooperation with the Agribank Staff Training School in Đồ Sơn – Hải Phòng – came to a close. VIETESG hopes that the results it leaves behind will contribute to Agribank’s system-wide ESG transformation journey.
The in-depth ESG training programme was attended by the Steering Committee and the Support Team of Agribank’s ESG Implementation Steering Committee; leaders and staff of Committees, Departments, Centres, Public Service Units and Regional Representative Offices; and leaders of a number of Agribank branches nationwide.
Opening the training programme, Ms Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà – Director of the Agribank Staff Training School – delivered the opening speech, stating that the programme’s objective was to give staff – especially Departments and Units involved in the Bank’s ESG transformation project – an accurate, in-depth understanding of ESG. To achieve this, the Agribank Staff Training School reviewed many providers that applied to take part, with high standards for trainers. It was a difficult selection, because in Vietnam there are only just over ten ESG experts certified by reputable international organisations, and very few of them have knowledge and experience of applying ESG in banking. The School found ESG expert Phạm Quốc Hưng – the 5th analyst in Vietnam certified by EFFAS – the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies, with working experience in the finance and banking sector in many key and leadership roles.

Over 3 days of training, participants were guided on ESG implementation, terminology and tools related to building ESG, types of ESG reports, how to put the contents of reporting standards into practice, how to collect and consolidate performance results into report content, integrating ESG into operations, products and services, how to access Green capital, and more.
The course took place in a lively atmosphere, with frank exchanges between learners and the trainer. The trainer not only acted as a “guide” to ESG knowledge but was also ready to “point the way” and suggest to learners directions for applying ESG in their actual work at the Bank.
At the end of the course, a number of learners personally thanked the trainer and the Training School for organising a useful course that gave them more practical knowledge, ideas for applying ESG to transform the working environment and governance policies, ESG reporting practices, and ideas for new products integrating Green – Sustainable elements.
